The day is observed to mark the death anniversary, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar .

Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar had died on 6th of December in the 1956 that’s why Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Mahaparinirvan Din or death anniversary is celebrated every year all over the India on 6th of December to pay him a lot of tribute and honor. He is called as “The Father of the Indian Constitution”.

BR Ambedkar, fondly called Baba Saheb, was born in a Dalit family during the colonial era of India. He grew up seeing the atrocities meted out to the Dalits, who were treated as untouchables and were ostracized. He later campaigned against the social discrimination against the Dalits and became the force behind the Dalit Buddhist Movement in India.
