Tripura Assembly Deputy Speaker Pabitra kar demands to form separate Ministry to implement ACT EAST Policy
By Our Correspondent, 19/06/2017, Agartala

Tripura Assembly Deputy Speaker Pabitra kar on Monday while addressing a press conference at Secretariat strongly slammed the ‘Look East Act East policy’ introduced by the PM Narenadra Modi led BJP Government at the central. After attending the 16th Annual Conference of North East Region Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (NERCPA-2017) held at Manipur Tripura Assembly Deputy Speaker Pabitra kar held a press conference on Monday at Secretariat.

Addressing the media, Kar stated that in the 16th NERCPA-2017 meet two topics were put forward. Manipur Legislative assembly raised the issue of status of Look East Act East policy and Tripura Legislative assembly raised the issue of communication system.

Look East Policy has now converted to Act East Policy and so all round development of North East India should be the top priority for the entire Nation.

Act East Policy is not a simple and easy task and what we need is collective, comprehensive and co-ordinate move with strong political will to meet the challenges of the region. He further added that the strategic location of the State between India and South East Asian Countries underlines the additional expectations of the State to act as ‘Land Bridge’.

However, criticizing the Act east policy led by the Central government, Kar added that a separate Ministry should be formed to give special attention and importance to the true implementation of the Act East policy and to bring development in the entire North East and hence developing the South East Asian countries.
