By Our Correspondent, 13/06/2018, Agartala

Following the allegation raised by  BJP spokesperson Ashok Sinha, former CM Manik Sarkar on Wednesday in  a press meet stated that he visited Gandacherra 16 times in last 25 years.

The reaction came after BJP spokesperson raised question regarding the visit of  former CM Manik Sarkar at Gandacherra in past 25 years.  The issue can be related to the incident  where Former CM Manik Sarkar along with a team of MLAs were allegedly restricted by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters from entering a bungalow and visit various parts in remote tribal areas of Gandacherra to witness the conditions in which people are living.

It is to be mentioned here that  the people at Gandachera raised slogans ‘ Go back’ when former CM Manik Sarkar and others went to see the condition of the people living is disparity after MGNREGA and other works were stopped after BJP government came in power.

The entire episode of the blockade has been strongly condemned by the Opposition Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader Manik Sarkar who further stated that it was being done so that the world does not know about the actual situation in the remote areas wherein an absence of work people are spending days in wilderness.
