Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who had been enlisted as one of the star campaigners for the BJP in the poll-bound West Bengal, on Tuesday kicked off campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party. The young Chief Minister from the North Eastern state of Tripura had attended a number of programmes at different parts of Bengal that included two consecutive road shows at Howrah and North 24 Pargana. On his way, he paid floral tribute to the bust Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose located at the Jashore road of Howrah. Later, he participated in a public meeting at Barasat and as per his schedule there is another public meeting he will be addressing later in the evening.
However, the Chief Minister voiced the clarion call of Parivartan and said that there was nothing that could prevent BJP from coming in power. "This huge participation of the masses indicates that there is nothing that can really prevent BJP. The days of syndicate Raj, field days for coal and cattle smugglers have gone", said Deb while briefing the media persons on the sidelines of his party programmes.
Deb came down heavily on the Mamta Banerjee led TMC government in West Bengal and said, "under the Mamta Banerjee regime no development has taken place. If people really want to see as to what real development is you should visit Tripura. And, people of West Bengal have already understood that the time of Mamta Didi is over and I want to request her please take rest now as from now on BJP will take care of everything".
Deb also criticised the TMC for acting against the farmers. He said, TMC did not implement the PM Kisan Sanman Nidhi scheme launched for the welfare of farmers. They did not want farmers to get the benefit of central projects. But, PM Modi would not leave the farmers of Bengal. They would get their dues with arrears after BJP forming a government in Bengal, Deb added.
