Combined efforts saved a critical malaria patient in Gomati District

A combined effort of a network of Hospitals has able to save a highly critical malaria patient in Gomati District. The patient is currently under treatment in Gomati District Hospital. Dr. Abhijit Datta, Child specialist of District Hospital, Karan Tripura, a 10- year-old boy from Chaplin Chara of Tirthamukh under Karbook Block was almost in unconscious and in cerebral encephalopathy, a life threatening condition, when he was brought to the hospital. But combined efforts of a team of doctors and health staff have been able to save him. Karan is now recovering.
Report says, Karan with detection of malaria Pf positive was admitted in Natunbazar Hospital on 7th January where his treatment was going on. But during the treatment, Karans haemoglobin level was found to be gradually decreased. The incident has alerted the doctors of Natunbazar RH. With the alertness, Dr. Milanbhakta Jamatia, MOIC of Natunbazar RH has promptly communicated to Dr. Arjun Saha, District Malaria Officer of Gomati District who in turn, alerted District Hospitals team in advance. Before taking the second thought of treatment, the patients immediately went to semi-conscious with shock of cerebral encephalopathy and referred to Gomati District Hospital.
The 10- Year- School boy was immediately rushed to the Gomati District Hospital where Team of Doctors comprising Dr. Abhijit Datta and Dr. Sharmistha Chowdhury including Blood Bank has taken all necessary preparation before the patient was rushed to the hospital and started the treatment. Dr. Arjun Saha said that the patient was administered one unit of blood. He appreciated the chain of efforts from sub centre to District Hospital which has been able to save Karan. He is now saved from critical condition and under the treatment in Gomati District Hospital.
