Court awards 20 years rigorous imprisonment to a 26 year old boy for abduction, rape of minor

Agartala: June 22: South Tripura District and Sessions Court today awarded 20-years of rigorous imprisonment to one Pranajit Debnath (26) in a case of abduction and rape of a minor.The 26-year Pranajit Debnath along with his two friends abducted one 16 year old minor girl and took her to Melaghar on November 1, 2019 at 10 am on her way to school.
After she has gone missing the family members searched her however failed to trace her. Later they filed a missing dairy with Santirbazar police station.After that the police came to know that the girl was in Melaghar. When the police of Shantir Bazar police station informed Melaghar police station about the matter, Melaghar police station was able to arrest the youth. Sub-Inspector Sima Roy was the investigating officer in the case.
South Tripura District and Sessions Court Judge Ashutosh Pandey (Special Judge) on Wednesday, after a lengthy hearing and after hearing the testimony of 17 people, sentenced him to four years rigorous imprisonment under Section 366 and a fine of Rs 5,000, one month imprisonment for non-payment, under 4 (2) POSCO Act 2012, 20. He was also sentenced to three months imprisonment for non-payment of a fine of Rs 15,000. Special PP (POSCO) Prabhat Chandra Dutta handled the case on behalf of the government. Lawyer Prabhat Chandra Dutta detailed the whole matter in front of the media.
