Court sentences husband life imprisonment for wife's murder

Judicial Magistrate West Tripura on Monday sentenced life time imprisonment for one Samir Munda who was earlier found guilty for killing his wife Panchami Munda. The Court also sentenced a monetary penalty of Rs 10,000 that would be equally distributed among two children of Samir, said Additional Public Prosecutor Arabinda Deb.
The origin of the case dated back to the year 2014, when Munda murdered his wife Panchami at his residence located at Mohanpur under West Tripura district. The police submitted the charge-sheet in the year 2019 followed by which proceedings began in the Court.
Detailing the Judgement, Deb said, "Samir Munda was convicted under IPC section 302 for murdering his wife on Friday. The Court on Monday delivered the sentence on the conviction. The prosecution had appealed the Court for life time imprisonment and the Court granted the appeal. The Court sentenced him with life time rigorous imprisonment along with a monetary penalty of Rs 10,000".
"The Court also directed the prosecution to distribute the money between two children of Samir if deposited by the convict. The Prosecution also conceded to the terms pronounced by the Court", Deb added.
