HP District Red Cross Society extends helping hand to disabled girl 'Shikha Sharma'

The district Red Cross Society has come and aided Shikha Sharma, a disabled young girl of Sujanpur area of this district, who is nursing her spinal injuries for a long time at Chandigarh.
She has already lost both her parents and is without any help.
As a web site reported her ordeal, the Deputy Commissioner of Hamirpur, Debaswerta Banik came to assist her and deposited a sum of Rs 15,000 in her bank account as a help.
In the year 2019 too, Shikha was given financial help from the society. Debashweta Banik said that in view of the her condition, she is being benefited through various schemes of the state and central government.
The Deputy Commissioner said that after completing all the formalities related to Sahara Yojana of Himachal Pradesh Government last year, financial assistance of Rs 3,000 was being provided to Shikha every month.
Apart from this, Shikha is also getting a monthly disability pension of Rs 1500 by the Welfare Department.
Ms. Debaswerta Banik said that all the information regarding the treatment of Shikha was being collected, so that in future also all possible help can be given to her through various means.
It’s worth mentioning here that Shikha was admitted to the rehabilitation center by her father Yiog Raj Sharma in October 2020. However, her father also died in May 2021 leaving her to the mercy of God.
MLA from Sujanpur assembly constituency, Rajendra Rana has been helping her to stand on her feet and has been providing relief. He had already given her a sum of Rs. 25,000.
Latest report says that Shikha has once again been admitted to another rehabilitation center by her friends located at Chandigarh.
Notably, Shikha is also a keen writer and a Sirmaur based organisation has already given her the Himachal Icon award.
