Nego Mafia Case: Two held, one sent to police remand

Tripura police’s crime branch cell on Thursday arrested two persons identified as Ranjan Nag and Shibu Malakar against a case registered in the Airport police station where specific allegations levelled against both of them and some their accomplices of extortion, criminal intimidation and common intention, additional public prosecutor Bidyut Sutradhar said on Thursday. However, the police could not produce Shibu Malakar in the Court for his ill health and he was admitted to the IGM hospital Agartala. Ranjan Nag, who was also arrested in connection with the case, had been awarded with three days police remand until February 20 next. The next hearing of the case had been fixed on February 21 next, Sutradhar added. On being asked about the other accused, he said, since he was admitted to the hospital he was sent to judicial custody and soon after his release , police asked to produce him before the Court.
Detailing the background of the case, Sutradhar said, a specific case was registered against both of them and 21 others in the Airport Police Station for slapping extortion notices to the workers of a Orissa based company that had come to work here. They had threatened the workers of dire consequences and demanded huge amounts of money. A complaint was registered against all of them under IPC section 506,387 and 34.
