Policy implementation ends appeasement: PM
By UNI, 12/05/2022, New Delhi
New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the scope for politics of appeasement ends when the government schemes are implemented 100 per cent. He was addressing the Utkarsh Samaroh at Bharuch in Gujarat via video conferencing to mark the celebration of 100 per cent saturation of four key schemes of the state government in the district which provide timely financial assistance to the needy.
"When government schemes achieve 100 per cent saturation for the benefit the masses, the politics of appeasement ends. That means treating people equally... hundred per cent coverage of the beneficiaries means treating every sect, every class equally. "No one should be left out of government schemes meant for the welfare of the poor," he said. When the BJP came to power at the Centre in 2014, half of India lacked toilet facilities, bank accounts, electricity connection and vaccination facilities, he said.
The Prime Minister said that due to lack of information about government schemes, they often remain on paper and people are left out. "A senior politician came to meet me and said Modiji what's there to be achieved you have become the Prime Minister twice. He doesn't know Modi won't relax and want to achieve 100 per cent saturation of government schemes." The district administration of Bharuch carried out Utkarsh Initiative drive from 1st January to 31st March this year, with the aim to ensure complete coverage of schemes providing assistance to widows, elderly and destitute citizens. The Prime Minister also interacted with the beneficiaries of the schemes. Interacting with the daughter of one of the beneficiaries, Ayub Patel, Modi got emotional after the young woman, Aaliya, said she wanted to become a doctor as her father suffered from glaucoma. After a brief pause, Modi said: "Beti, your emotions are your strength."
