The All India Trinamool Congress on Saturday appointed Mahua Moitra,
MP from Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency, as the State in-charge of the party's Goa unit with immediate effect.
" Our Hon’ble Chairperson is pleased to appoint Smt. Mahua Moitra, (Hon’ble MP, Krishnanagar
Lok Sabha) as the State in-charge of AITC Goa unit with immediate effect, " the party tweeted.
Earlier, the party nominated former Goa chief minister Luizinho Faleiro as the party candidate for Rajya Sabha from West Bengal.
The party tweeted, " We are extremely pleased to nominate @luizinhofaleiro to the Upper House
of the Parliament. We are confident that his efforts towards serving the nation shall be appreciated widely by our people!".
AITC supremo Mamata Banerjee, who had already visited Goa, is eyeing to unseat the BJP-led government in Goa in next year's Assembly poll.
Seventy-year-old Faleiro, who joined the TMC some months back, is the national vice-president
of the party.
Recently TMC leader Arpita Ghosh quit the Rajya Sabha seat to which the election will be held on November 29.
November 16 is the last date for submitting the nomination papers.
Sources said Mr Faleiro, who is in the city, is expected to file his nomination papers early next week
