TTAADC polls: BJP demands proper security in sensitive booths

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has placed a demand before the state election commission for arranging adequate security in the select booths which can be termed sensitive for the ensuing TTAADC elections. The demand has been placed before the election commission official while a delegation of BJP leaders comprising Tripura BJP Vice President Rajib Bhattacharjee, MLA Rampada Jamatia and Bharatiya Janata Janajati Morcha General Secretary Bidyut Debbarma.
Briefing the press, Rajib Bhattacharjee said, “from the end of our MLA Ram Pada Jamatia a proposal has been made to take some dates of religious festivals in consideration while finalizing the schedule of ensuing TTAADC elections. He has also highlighted the issue of some exams that are going to be conducted and said that due to the elections the exams may not be hampered”.
Highlighting the party's other demands, he said, now the law and order situation in Tripura is quite good but still there are some booths which are located in sensitive areas which require major attention. Adequate security arrangements ought to be made in these areas so that the voting process does not get harmed, he added. According to Bhattacharjee, there are altogether 1,244 booths in the TTAADC areas and as per the initial reports altogether 8 lakh 64 thousand electorates are eligible to exercise their franchise in the ensuing polls. The final voter list will be published on February 23 next .
