Horror director and comedian Jordan Peel’s yet-to-be-titled new film has hit some unexpected obstacles, as the movie – pegged as another horror-thriller – has been unset from its initial target of 2026 by Universal Pictures.
The Oscar-winner’s fourth film was set to release in 2024 initially, but was pushed to October 2026 amid Hollywood strikes. The film’s release target for now is uncertain, though Peele has confirmed that the movie is currently in the works, reports Variety.
Neither Universal nor Peele have commented on the reasons for the new delay. In light of the ‘Get Out’ director’s style, nothing aside from the film’s genre is known, with Peele and his reps keeping all details under wraps.
The ‘Us’ director – also well known for his comic skits with Keegan Michael Key in ‘Key and Peele – offered comments abou his new venture in 2024 and said “I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favourite movie if I make it right.”
While his own directorial may have been unset from its target year, Universal will nonetheless release the sports horror film ‘Him’, which is produced by Peele.
‘Him’ is set to hit the theatres on September 19. UNI ANV SSP
