Agartala, 25th March 2026: The two-day National Conference on “Circular Economy: Plastic Waste to Wealth”, organized by the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Agartala, with the support of the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals , Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, concluded successfully with active participation from key stakeholders across the country which was held at Pragna Bhavan, Gorkhabasti, Agartala .
The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Milind Ramteke, Secretary, Urban Development, Education (School) and Revenue, Government of Tripura, in the presence of officials from Tripura State Pollution Control Board, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Govt. of India and other dignitaries.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Milind Ramteke, IAS highlighted the importance of sustainable waste management practices and stressed the need for collective efforts to transition towards a circular economy. He emphasized that effective utilization of plastic waste can significantly contribute to environmental protection and economic growth.
Over the two days, the conference featured insightful technical sessions by resource persons from TSPCB, NIT, IIT, CSIR- NEERI and other Govt. Departments of Tripura, panel discussions focusing on advanced recycling technologies, waste segregation strategies, circular design, and innovative “waste-to-wealth” models and also financial incentives and support mechanisms available to promote recycling industries, startups and entrepreneurs.
The conference brought together recycling & plastics industry owners, representatives from state and central Govt. Departments, NGO’s, academicians and researchers, entrepreneurs, startups, and environmental experts working in this waste management domain.
The valedictory session concluded by distribution of certificates of participation to participants. The conference is expected to pave the way for stronger collaborations and actionable strategies for a cleaner and greener future.
