Agartala Dec 08: In a tragic incident, 2 construction workers died in a landslide while working at Assam-Agartala National Highway.The incident took place on Thursday at 47 mile area of Atharamura hill on Assam-Agartala National Highway No. 8.
According to the details, Thursday as the workers were engaged in the construction work of a paved drain on the side of National Highway, soil mixed with rocks from the hill collapsed on the workers all of a sudden.
Two workers were crushed to death on spot following the accident. The workers have been indentified as Swapan Majumder (42), a resident of Udaipur and Hurupu Bardoli (22) of Assam.Teliamura fire brigade and Mungiakami police personnel hurried to the spot on receiving the information.The dead bodies were recovered after a lot of efforts. Swapan Majumder’s dead body was brought to Kulai hospital mortuary and Hurupu Bardoli’s dead body was brought to Teliamura sub-divisional hospital by Teliamura Fire Brigade personnel.The bodies will be handed over to the relatives after post-mortem.
