Agartala, 14th January 2026: In a bid to strengthen the rural economy and promote self-reliance among tribal communities, a special initiative has been undertaken under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana – Watershed Development Component (PMKSY-WDC). As part of the program, 36 beneficiaries in Santirbazar subdivision were provided with cows to enhance their livelihood opportunities.
The distribution ceremony was organized by the Bogafa Agriculture Department at Pratiprasad Para in Madhya Kathalia ADC Village, Bokafa block. The project, aimed at improving financial stability in villages, involved an expenditure of approximately Rs 14.66 lakh. Officials noted that this marks the final year of the scheme in Kathalia and Madhya Kathalia.
The initiative was successfully implemented through the joint efforts of former Madhya Kathalia village chairman Jitendra Reang and the Santirbazar Agriculture Department.
Several dignitaries attended the event, including Bogafa Block Development Committee member Debasish Bhowmik, social worker Mombu Mog, former village chairman Jitendra Reang, and Bogafa Agriculture Department supervisor Rajib Sen. Speakers highlighted the importance of the project and also referred to various development programs undertaken by the central and state governments.
Beneficiaries expressed joy at receiving government support, noting that the assistance would help them move towards self-sufficiency.
