42 Kg Ganja seized in Sonamura, one held

Agartala, 5th June 2025 :  In a successful joint anti-narcotics operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) 41 Battalion and Tripura Police of Sonamura Police Station recovered 42 kg of dried ganja from a residence in the Fakiradola area under UNC Nagar, Sonamura.

Acting on a tip-off, BSF personnel cordoned off the house of Nabir Hossain, suspecting it to be a storage point for narcotics intended for smuggling into Bangladesh. The BSF immediately informed the Sonamura Police, following which a joint raid was conducted.

During the search, officials recovered 21 packets of dried ganja—amounting to 42 kg—from the kitchen of the house. The accused, Nabir Hossain, was arrested on the spot.Sonamura Police Station Inspector Jagabandhu Debnath confirmed the seizure and arrest, stating that a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act is being registered against Hossain. He also appreciated the timely intelligence and coordination between BSF and the local police that led to the successful bust.The operation marks yet another breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on drug smuggling networks along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
