Agartala, 25th June 2024: In a tragic incident, a 45-year-old woman identified as Tinku Rani Shil allegedly committed suicide by setting herself on fire at her residence in Champamura Kapali Para under Bishalgarh police station. According to sources, Tinku Rani Shil had been battling mental illness for several years and was undergoing treatment.
“On Tuesday morning, Tinku Rani Shil went unnoticed to the bathroom, poured kerosene on herself, and set herself ablaze, closing the door from inside,” a police official reported. Her actions were discovered shortly afterward by her son and a close relative who raised an alarm. Local residents rushed to the scene, where they found her charred body.
Bishalgarh Women’s Police Station responded to the incident, recovering the body and transferring it to Bishalgarh Divisional Hospital Morgue for autopsy. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, classifying it as an unusual death case. Tinku Rani Shil is survived by her husband and two sons, with whom she reportedly had no ongoing family issues.
