Agartala, 2nd September 2025:   Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today asserted that the people of Tripura have realized that development of the state and country is possible only with the BJP, while CPI(M) and Congress have historically used the Janajati community for political gains.

Dr. Saha made the remarks during a membership drive at Killa Bazar, Bagma in Gomati District, where 610 voters from 200 families, previously affiliated with other parties, formally joined the BJP.

Welcoming the new members, the Chief Minister emphasized the party’s commitment to development and peace. “Two days ago, I attended Mann Ki Baat in Asarambari, which is a non-political initiative. Despite this, our karyakartas faced attacks last month while listening to the programme. BJP stands firmly with its workers and is ready to make sacrifices for the nation,” he said.

Highlighting the contrast between the BJP and its predecessors, Dr. Saha criticized CPI(M) for years of violence and exploitation of the Janajati people for vote bank politics. “Our party does not believe in politics rooted in murder and terror. During CPI(M) rule, terrorism emerged, but under our government, Tripura is now peaceful. Since 2014, when Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, the Northeast has seen significant development. Connectivity has improved, and models like HIRA have been implemented to benefit the region,” he added.

Dr. Saha also paid tribute to Maharaja Bir Bikram, criticizing CPI(M) for neglecting his contributions to Tripura’s growth. “The Manikya Dynasty worked tirelessly for Tripura, establishing schools, colleges, markets, and institutions. BJP ensures respect and development for the Janajati community, fostering unity as the foundation for progress,” he said.

The event was attended by MLA Rampada Jamatia, BJP State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, and Mandal President Amar Jamatia.
