Agartala, 17th February 2026:  A poignant image has emerged from Bishramganj, where 85-year-old Hossain Mia has made a heartfelt plea to the Chief Minister for elderly pension support.

Hossain Mia, a resident of Ward No. 5 under the Barojala Gram Panchayat near the DM and SP offices, claims that despite holding a Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration card, he has yet to receive any government housing or old-age pension benefits.

Struggling under the weight of age and without any stable source of livelihood, Mia says he has repeatedly approached the local administration. However, he alleges that his efforts have yielded nothing beyond verbal assurances.

Left with no other option, the octogenarian has now sought direct intervention from the Chief Minister. His appeal urges the government to act swiftly on humanitarian grounds, granting him pension benefits and including him under the housing scheme.

For Hossain Mia, the hope remains that the government’s goodwill may finally bring him some relief in the twilight years of his life.
