Agartala, 11th July 2025: A serious allegation of financial fraud has surfaced against Bappi Chakraborty, a resident of the Office Tilla Grameen Bank area, who is accused of embezzling Rs 74,490 from a helpless construction worker. The accused is the son of Shankar Chakraborty.
According to sources, Hiralal Das, a daily wage worker from the Sidhai Mohanpur area, was engaged through a fellow worker to install tiles in Bappi Chakraborty’s residence. The work was completed back in January with the help of Hiralal’s team. However, despite repeated requests and follow-ups over the past seven months, Bappi allegedly kept deferring the payment of ₹74,490, in addition to another promised amount of Rs 50,000.
In a shocking turn of events, the accused reportedly threatened the worker, saying, “If you come to my house again, I will break your leg.” The matter took a further disturbing turn when Hiralal Das, the aggrieved worker seeking his rightful dues, was taken into custody at the Bishalgarh Police Station on Friday afternoon. The circumstances behind his detention remain unclear, raising eyebrows in the local community.
Local sources further claim that Bappi Chakraborty has been involved in similar disputes with multiple individuals after undertaking housing construction projects and failing to pay due amounts.
The incident has sparked outrage, with many questioning the role of law enforcement and demanding justice for the worker. As pressure mounts, all eyes are now on the administration and police to see what steps will be taken to recover the money owed to the victim and hold the accused accountable. Further investigation is awaited.
