Agartala, 28th October 2024:   The Ambedkar Memorial Club made its debut last year with the ‘Shyama Mayer Puja’ is all set for its second annual celebration. This year’s event is taking place at the scenic Makhan Hazari area adjacent to the Jagannath Temple on Nutan Bazar bypass road.

The president of the Puja committee Subrata Chakraborty revealed that the budget for this year’s festivities is Rs 7 lakh. The main attraction is a towering 41-foot tall idol of ‘Shyama Maa’. In addition to this impressive centerpiece, the pandal will house eight other idols representing different forms of Maa Kali, all crafted by local potter Surajit Pal. The pandal construction is being overseen by artist Amrit Das from Jatanbari, with Chandan Lal Sen from Amarpur handling the lighting.

The Shyama Puja will be officially inaugurated on Wednesday evening, just before Diwali. On the second evening, various theme-based tableaux will parade through the routes of Nutan Bazar and Jatanbari.

“This year’s Shyama Puja promises to be even grander than last year. We are expecting a large crowd to come and see the 41-foot tall Shyama Maa idol,” stated Chakraborty.

The final preparations are in full swing, with organizers working tirelessly to ensure everything is perfect for the festivities. There is an unspoken competition among the Puja organizers, aiming to captivate visitors and stand out among other clubs in the area.
