Agartala: July 23. Leader of Opposition Animesh Debbarma questioned the role of the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha over the incident that occurred in the Tripura Cricket Association.

He said the Chief Minister’s silence on such incidents in the heart of the capital is disappointing for the entire state. Animesh said that in the end the quality of cricket is going down further. “The trend of association taking over is not at all a welcome move, putting the future of many budding cricketers in the state in the dark”, he said.

He expressed his anger and said that the manner, in which Timir Chand, a talented former cricketer of the state was physically assaulted, was not acceptable.

“Flashing of weapons was seen in the TCA premises. If people are walking freely with pistols in the nose of the SDPO office along with West Agartala police station then, how much citizen is safe? This incident proves the poor state of security in the capital”, said Animesh.

He questioned why the Chief Minister, who is in charge of the Home Department, is silent even after 24 hours of the incident.

Animesh demanded an investigation into the incident. Apart from this, the opposition party leader also demanded an adequate investigation into the allegations of economic corruption in the TCA.
