Agartala, 15th October 2025: The All Tripura Engineers’ Association (ATEA) on Wednesday submitted a deputation to the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police of Unakoti district, strongly protesting the recent assault on Ranjay Debbarma, Executive Engineer of the Kumarghat sub-division under the Water Resources Department.
The association demanded immediate identification and exemplary punishment of those responsible for the attack. The incident has sparked widespread outrage among the engineering community across the state.
Over a hundred members of ATEA were present during the deputation, led by key office bearers including President Surya Kumar Debbarma, General Secretary Satyabrata Das, Unakoti District President Siddhartha Kumar Deb, and District Secretary Sanjay Pal.
In a statement to the media, ATEA leaders condemned the attack as “barbaric” and warned that failure by the administration to take swift legal action against the perpetrators could compel the association to launch a larger agitation.
Responding to the deputation, the District Magistrate of Unakoti assured that a full investigation would be conducted and appropriate measures taken against those involved.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of engineers working in the state. Sources within the association indicated that further protest programs may be organized in the coming days to press for justice and improved security.
