Agartala, 27th October 2025: This is the first initiative of NBIRT in the state of Tripura under South Charilam NB Institute for Rural Technology (NBIRT) organised a skill training program on Bamboo Jewellery making to propagate vocal for local with the technical support of Viswa Bharati University, Kolkata as a knowledge partner under SUNIL Project.
Institute also provided green tools amongst the trained Bamboo artisans. Now few artisans are earning and they are self reliant. After remarkable achievement of the bamboo jewellery making training of bamboo artisan, such training programs have been started in various blocks, panchayat areas with the support of Govt. of Tripura.
Accordingly to serve the community through awareness cum demonstration a training program on Bamboo Jewellery making was inaugurated on October 25 last at Arkaneer premises, Sekerkote in-collaboration with Rotary Club of Aspiring Agartala with 19 women participants with the aim of empowering rural communities through Service & Inspiring positive change in Tripura and the same training program executed by Bamboo Incubation Centre ( BIC) of NBIRT under SUNIL project, SEED Division, Deptt. of Science and Technology, Government of India. Rtn. Jhumur Banik Sengupta, Secretary and Rtn. Dr. Soubhik Debbarma, Treasure of Rotary Club of Aspiring Agartala graced the function as the honoured guests, making it vibrant with their presence. Besides, Er. Pramodh Lal Ghosh, Technical Adviser, Mohit Lal Acharjee, Treasurer, other officials of NBIRT and Debabrata Das, Master Trainer were also present.
All the distinguished dignitaries inaugurated the said awareness cum demonstration training program by watering the tree. The formal inaugural function was addressed by Secretary & Treasurer of Rotary Club of Aspiring Agartala in front of the participants at Arkaneer’s auditorium.
The speakers of Rotary Club of Aspiring Agartala (RCAA) emphasized the importance of providing alternative employment opportunities to rural women participants and also explained the objectives of RCAA & the such type of training program’s objective. While delivering welcome address, Er. Pramodh Lal Ghosh, Technical Advisor, NBIRT highlighted the activities/various projects and importance of awareness, skill development training programs etc. Anup Dey, Project Officer, NBIRT informed the activities of SUNIL project, especially business incubation centre under SUNIL project. The vote of thanks was moved by Rotarian Kakali Acharjee, Rotary Club of Aspiring Agartala.
In this connection, a lively demonstration on Bamboo Jewellery making was held with the master trainer and some business tips also provided by experienced resource person from Business Incubation Centre (BIC) of NBIRT under SUNIL project.
