Bangladeshi National, Indian Tout Detained in Sonamura

Agartala, 27th February 2026:   The Tripura Police of Sonamura Police Station detained one Bangladeshi national and one Indian tout late last night from the Sonamura–Durgapur area under Sepahijala district.

According to police sources, the individuals were apprehended during a late-night operation. The detainees have been identified as Easin Arafat (19), son of Late Masuk Miah, a resident of Songrise under Kotwali Police Station in Comilla district, Bangladesh and Abul Khyear (45), a resident of Durgapur, Ward No. 02, under Sonamura Police Station in Sepahijala district, Tripura.

Police have registered a case under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the illegal entry and the role of the Indian tout in facilitating the movement.
