Agartala, 17th February 2026: A senior functionary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura, Bipin Debbarma, on Tuesday claimed that the party is witnessing a steady rise in support across areas governed by the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). He asserted that several residents who were earlier aligned with the Tipra Motha Party have now chosen to associate with the BJP.
According to Debbarma, 215 individuals from 57 families in Unakoti district recently shifted their allegiance from Tipra Motha to the BJP. He attributed the change to growing dissatisfaction among voters regarding development initiatives in the district council areas.
He further stated that concerns over basic amenities, including drinking water, have been raised by local residents, particularly women. Referring to a recent interaction, he mentioned that some women questioned the leadership of Tipra Motha by highlighting issues related to the quality of water supply in their locality.
Debbarma maintained that the BJP’s increasing presence in the district council regions reflects public confidence in the party’s development agenda. He praised party workers for their grassroots efforts and credited the leadership of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha for strengthening the organisation at the local level.
Expressing optimism about the future, he said the BJP is aiming to secure control of the district council in the 2026 elections. He also alleged that apprehension over the BJP’s expanding support base has led to instances of hostility against party workers.
