Bir Bikram Memorial College holds seminar on soft skills & interview preparedness

Agartala, 24th November 2025:  The Placement Cell of Bir Bikram Memorial College, in collaboration with the Departments of Commerce and Economics, successfully organised a one-day seminar on Soft Skills & Interview Preparedness (SSIP) today. The programme, conducted in partnership with Insyssky Soft Tech Pvt. Ltd., was held at the College Conference Hall at 11 am.

The seminar aimed to strengthen students’ employability by offering practical guidance on communication and personality development, workplace behaviour and professionalism, as well as interview techniques and preparedness.

The session was coordinated by Dr. Basudeb Bhattacharya, Placement Cell Coordinator, who introduced the dignitaries and resource persons. Dr. Tapas Kumar Sethy, Associate Professor in the Department of Commerce, delivered the Welcome Address, emphasising the importance of soft skills in shaping students’ career success.

This was followed by an encouraging speech from Dr. Sujit Das, Head of the Department of Commerce, who urged students to take full advantage of the training opportunities provided. Faculty members Rajlaxmi Chakma, Assistant Professor, and Sri Debapriya Majumder, Guest Lecturer, were also present during the seminar.

From Insyssky Soft Tech Pvt. Ltd., Trisha Bhattacharjee and other resource persons conducted the technical session. They highlighted the importance of soft skills in the corporate world and covered key aspects of interview preparedness, including: Resume building; Effective communication techniques; Body language and presentation skills; and Problem-solving approaches.

Interactive demonstrations and real-world examples made the session engaging and helped students grasp industry expectations more clearly.

A major highlight was the announcement of an online soft skills training programme. Out of the registered participants, 40 students will be shortlisted to receive a 100% scholarship funded by the Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura. This initiative will allow them to complete a certified course online at no financial cost.

The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across departments. The lively interactions between students and resource persons enriched the learning experience. Faculty members praised the collaborative efforts of the Placement Cell, Commerce, and Economics departments in organising such a vital programme for student development.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the support of the college administration, collaborating departments, Insyssky Soft Tech Pvt. Ltd., and the Directorate of Skill Development. The seminar proved to be enriching and impactful, equipping students with essential career-oriented skills to support their future professional growth.
