Agartala, 24th July 2025:  Youths from West Gokulnagar booked a suspected thief Sameer Das allegedly caught with a stolen bike bearing a tampered license plate registered as TR07H6681 last night. Das, a resident of Nimchoumuhoni under Madhupur police station reportedly confessed to stealing the bike from Noabari road. Locals detained him, recovered a sharp knife and handed him over to Bishalgarh police.

Theft incidents including poultry, rubber, household items and bikes have surged in Kamalasagar assembly constituency prompting residents to organize night guards. Despite repeated complaints, locals allege inaction and corruption within the police force, accusing officers of releasing suspects in exchange for bribes. The public has also voiced concern about possible gang involvement and urged raids to uncover broader criminal networks.
