Agartala, September 5, 2023: The 62nd Teacher’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Dharmanagar, paying homage to the renowned educator Dr. Radha Krishnan on what would have been his 62nd birthday. The commemorative event took place at the prestigious Vivekananda Swardha Satabarshiki Bhavan in Dharmanagar on Tuesday.

The ceremonious occasion was inaugurated by Biswa Bandhu Sen, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. The event garnered participation from prominent figures, including Pradyut Dey Sarkar, chairperson of the Dharmanagar Municipal council, and the philanthropist Shyamal Nath.

Noteworthy is the collaboration between Dharmanagar Panisagar and Kadamtala Inspector of Schools in organizing this grand celebration, which reverberated across the state.

During the event, 71 retired teachers in the district, spanning from September 30, 2022, to August 31, 2023, were honored for their dedication and service to the community. The occasion also featured enlightening speeches that delved into the inspiring journey of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, a village boy who ascended to become India’s eminent educationist and eventually, the President of India.

Sen, in his address, urged all present to emulate the noble qualities of teachers, ensuring a lasting impact on students’ lives. He emphasized the pivotal role of teachers, dubbing them as the backbone of society, and underscored that every individual who has achieved success owes their progress to the guidance of a good teacher.

He stated, “Even if there are imperfections in various facets of society, any shortcomings in education would ultimately lead to the society’s demise. Teachers serve as society’s guiding radar, just as a radar guides a ship in the right direction. They have no alternative.”

The celebration of the 62nd Teacher’s Day in Dharmanagar served as a poignant reminder of the invaluable contribution of teachers and their role in shaping the future of society, echoing the timeless wisdom of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan’s legacy.
