Agartala, 17th August 2025: The Dharmanagar Mandal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a large-scale protest march yesterday rallying against what it described as politically motivated misinformation campaigns by opposition parties.
The march commenced from Chandrapur and wound through key streets of Dharmanagar before concluding outside the District Magistrate’s office. A significant turnout of party workers and supporters was observed throughout the procession.
Speaking at the culmination of the rally, Mandal President Shyamal Nath accused the CPI(M) and Congress of attempting to exploit the recent illness of local MLA and Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Biswabandhu Sen, to gain political traction. “They are trying to become active in Dharmanagar and North Tripura, but they hold no real influence here. Their propaganda aims to tarnish the BJP government’s development efforts, and today’s march is a public condemnation of those tactics,” Nath stated.
Among the prominent attendees were Dharmanagar Municipal Council Chairperson Mitali Das Sen, North District BJP General Secretary Jagatjyoti Deb, Mandal General Secretary Ashok Dutta, and Mandal Youth Morcha President Rahul Kishore Roy, along with several municipal councillors and party leaders.
According to party sources, the march was deemed a success, bolstered by strong public support. They also indicated plans for further public outreach initiatives in the coming days. Meanwhile, Speaker Biswabandhu Sen’s health has reportedly returned to normal, prompting celebratory chants during the rally, including “With blood in our veins, we are devotees of Biswabandhu Sen.”
