Agartala, March 24: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday announced its list of 28 candidates for the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, covering constituencies across the tribal council areas of the state.
At a press conference held at the party’s state headquarters in Agartala, BJP state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee unveiled the names. Key nominations include Rabindra Reang from Damchhara-Jampui, Manju Rani Sarkar from Machmara, Sailendra Nath from Dasda Kanchanpur, and Bimal Kanti Chakma from Karamchera. Other prominent candidates are Esmel Joy Tripura (Chawmanu), Sukesh Datta Barua (Manu-Chailengta), Bipin Debbarma (Damchera-Kachuchharra), and Bhumika Nanda Reang (Ganganagar-Gandachherra).

The list further features Ananta Debbarma (Halahali-Asharambari), Bimal Debbarma (Kulai-Champahour), Billow Jamatia (Maharanipur-Teliamura), David Debbarma (Ramchandraghat), Indrajit Debbarma (Simna-Tamakari), Ranabir Debbarma (Budhjung Nagar-Wakkinagar), Abhijit Debbarma (Jirania), and Rajesh Debbarma (Mandainagar-Pulinpur), Majee Debbarma from Pekurjala-Jammejoynagar, Nirmal Debbarma from Takarjala-Jampuijala, Kanuraj Debbarma from Amtali-Golaghati, Amar Jamatia from Killa-Bagma, and Samrat Jamatia from Maharani-Chelagang.
Padma Lochan Tripura will contest from Kathalia-Mirja-Rajapur, Swadagar Kalai from Ampinagar, Samir Ranjan Tripura from Raima Valley, Abindra Reang from Natunbazar-Malabasha, Sanjib Reang from Birchandranagar-Kalshi, Abhijit Tripura from Purba Maharipur-Buratali, and Kanijaong Mog from Silachari-Manubankul.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, present at the announcement, emphasized the government’s commitment to long-term solutions for tribal communities. He noted that 40 percent of the state budget—excluding committed expenditure—has been allocated to the TTAADC, with a focus on effective utilization for development. The Chief Minister highlighted increased stipends for Janajati students, support under the Banadhan project, and assistance for the resettlement of Bru-Reang families displaced from Mizoram.
Dr. Saha also underscored the recognition of Janajati contributions at national and state levels, citing honours such as the Padma Shri and the Maharaja Bir Bikram award. He remarked that cultural icons like SD Burman received due respect under BJP’s initiatives.
The press meet was attended by ministers Pranajit Singha Roy and Tinku Roy, former MP Rebati Tripura, BJP state general secretary Bipin Debbarma, and other senior leaders.
