Agartala: March 02. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to retain in power as the party has won 32 seats out of 60 seats without any support from the ally IPFT which has managed to win one seat.

While, Left has managed to win 11, Congress win in 3 seats and Tipra Motha has won in 13 seats. In this election, Congress which was nowhere in the past election has significantly increased its strength from one to three.

While Tipra Motha floated by royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma emerged as the show stealer by winning as many as 13 seats as perhaps this is for the first time one indigenous political party has won more than 10 seats in the state legislative.

However, if the pre-poll understanding between the Left and Congress survives even after the results it may also end up becoming the second largest political formation after BJP-IPFT.

But the report of Election Commission of India has shows that Tipra Motha is single party that is stands in the second position which eventually an embarrassment for the Left parties and Congress.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress which has left no stones unturned to continue with its losing streak as the party drew a blank in the elections.

The BJP’s return to power should be seen as a crucial development for Tripura because the party’s 2018 win had been largely attributed to the transfer of Congress vote into its fold. However, now it has become evident that the party has created a vote share of its own within the last five years and opposition parties have downplayed the strength of BJP.

Soon after the elections, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha told reporters that it was the work of the party workers which led the party to bag a majority. “For the first time Tripura has witnessed a triangular contest. Even after that our party has succeeded to win the polls. I want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda for their relentless support. We shall continue to work keeping our slogan of ‘Ek Tripura Srestha Tripura’ in the top of our priority list”, said Dr Saha.

Celebrations are taking place in different parts of the state as the saffron party supporters have been taking part in exchange of saffron color as a part of the celebrations.
