Agartala, 23rd December 2024: A delegation from the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Dhalai District Committee on Monday afternoon submitted a memorandum to the Ambassa Municipal Council outlining a comprehensive 14-point charter of demands. The delegation handed over their demand certificate to Chairperson Pratima Malakar at a formal meeting.
The delegation included BMS Dhalai District Committee President Anjit Debbarma, General Secretary Narayan Debnath, Joint Secretary Dipak Goswami, and other BMS office bearers. In an interview, President Anjit Debbarma emphasized the importance of their demands for the welfare of workers. “Today we presented a demand certificate containing 14-point demands to the Chairperson of the Ambassa Municipal Council regarding various issues in the interest of the workers,” Debbarma stated.
The demands highlighted by the BMS include the construction of a permanent auto stand in Ambassa, recruitment of drivers from BMS drivers for appointments made by the Ambassa Municipal Council, measures to control traffic congestion in the Ambassa city area, provision of permanent parking for e-rickshaw drivers, an increase in the salary of mid-day meal workers employed in various schools, construction of passenger sheds in wards across the area, and the renovation of old water ATMs.
“We hope that our demands will be discussed at a high level and that the entire Ambasa Parishad will take a constructive role in fulfilling them,” Debbarma added, expressing optimism for a positive response from the authorities.
The deputation highlighted the BMS’ commitment to addressing workers’ issues and improving their working conditions. The meeting with the Ambassa Municipal Council marks a significant step towards achieving these goals, as the BMS continues to advocate for the rights and welfare of workers in the region.
