CBC, state wing holds ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ program at Jogendranagar Netaji Subhash Colony High School

Agartala, 7th October 2024:   In celebration of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, the Central Bureau of Communication State Wing, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, organized the Swachhata Hi Seva program at Purva Jogendranagar Netaji Subhash Colony High School. The event commenced with a clean-up campaign in the school premises and surrounding areas.

The main program was inaugurated by Agartala Municipal Corporation Corporator Ruma Das in the school auditorium. The event was graced by Kripa Sankar Yadav, Additional Director General, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, North Eastern Region. Other notable attendees included Subhashish Chanda, Deputy Director of Akashvani Agartala Center, Sudipta Kar, Branch Officer of the Central Bureau of Communication Agartala, and Manoj Debnath, Acting Headmaster of the school.

The ceremony began with the symbolic watering of saplings. Corporator Ruma Das emphasized the importance of cleanliness, equating it to purity and heaven. She highlighted the necessity of maintaining transparency to ensure a beautiful and healthy society and personal life. She also stressed the importance of tree planting for environmental health and the protection of future generations.

Kripa Sankar Yadav addressed the pressing issue of river pollution, describing it as a major national crisis. He drew parallels to the disappearance of the Indus civilization due to environmental degradation. Yadav urged students to adopt habits that promote cleanliness, such as cutting nails, keeping clothes clean, and maintaining clean surroundings.

Subhashish Chanda shared research findings indicating that maintaining transparency and cleanliness can prevent 90% of diseases, thereby promoting overall health.

The program included sapling planting by the guests and featured a quiz competition and a drawing competition on the theme of transparency. Winners were awarded for their participation.

The Swachhata Hi Seva program successfully engaged the school community in promoting cleanliness and environmental awareness, aligning with the values of Mahatma Gandhi.
