CM directs actions against infiltration facilitators at Indo-Bangladesh border

Agartala, 4th July 2024:  Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday directed the BSF and Tripura Police officials to take strict actions against the culprits involved in providing shelter to further facilitate them to cross the border illegaly.

BSF sources sid that Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha called a meeting of all stakeholders to discuss recent spurt in infiltration activities on Indo Bangladesh border.

“Today evening, in the office of CM a meeting was conducted to discuss the recent increase in the infiltration of Bangladesh national. Chief secretary J K Sinha, ADG law and order Anurag, S K Sinha, DIG PSO of BSF and other officials were present during the meeting. In the meeting CM Dr Manik Saha expressed his concern on recent rise in infiltration of Bangladeshi into Indian territory”, said the official.

The BSF source further informed that during the meeting, Chief Minister directed officials concerned to take appropriate action against the culprits involved in providing shelter to further facilitate them to cross the border illegaly.

The official further said that S K Sinha, DIG BSF stated that availability of man power on border due to general parliamentary election and deployment of BSF troops in Manipur is less.

“Concerted efforts with all the agencies will certainly prove fruitful.  Identification of touts and action against them will reduce the incident of infiltration. BSF is under process of installation of electronic gadgets for border surveillance at vulnerable patches. Several other issues were also discussed during the meeting”, said the source.
