Agartala, 4th May 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday directed concerned officials to ensure the timely completion of ongoing road construction and covered drainage projects across Agartala city.
Dr. Saha issued these directives while reviewing developmental activities in Wards 16, 20, and 32 under the Agartala Municipal Council. He began his inspection from the Agartala Town Hall and covered key areas including Santipara, Kshetramohan School, Netaji Chowmuhani, Netaji School, Forest Office, the Howrah Riverfront Project, Singhapara, RMS Chowmuhani, Badurtoli, and Ramnagar 1 through 4.
During the extensive field visit, the Chief Minister personally examined the progress of multiple civic works, interacted with residents, and assessed local infrastructure concerns.
“In the 8-Town Baradowali Assembly Constituency, many roads and drains have been developed. While some areas faced issues with the drainage system, I’m happy to note those have been addressed. However, I also noticed instances of encroachment, which need immediate attention,” Dr. Saha said.
He specifically instructed officials to ensure proper construction of covered drains wherever necessary, and emphasized the need to maintain and preserve local water bodies, including a pond in the Shantipara area.
“Our focus is to strengthen the city’s drainage network and eliminate encroachments to improve overall urban living conditions. I’ve also urged completion of all pending road works within the stipulated timeline,” he added.Highlighting his commitment to regular public engagement, Dr. Saha said, “We do not limit our visits to election times. People were glad to see us in their localities. I also took stock of the infrastructure development at Kshetramohan School.”
Accompanying the Chief Minister during the inspection were Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, West District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Urban Development Secretary Abhishek Singh, CEO of Agartala Smart City Ltd. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, among other senior officials.
