Agartala, 8th October 2025 : Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC), claiming that the party has no substantial presence in Tripura beyond its signboards and is attempting to distract national attention from the ongoing flood crisis in North Bengal.
Addressing the media, Dr. Saha said, “The TMC’s governance in West Bengal is beyond words. North Bengal is facing a serious situation with floods and landslides, and many people are suffering. Our MPs and MLAs, including Khagen Murmu, have been actively distributing relief materials. Yet, the TMC exploited certain individuals to carry out a violent attack, resulting in some of our workers being hospitalized. This is typical of their approach. What is wrong with providing relief? The people of Tripura are outraged by this attack.”
He further noted that a rally was held in Agartala yesterday and reiterated that in Tripura, the TMC’s presence is limited to signboards.
“Some local youths protested in anger. Police were present but could not fully control the situation. Taking advantage of this, some outsiders from Kolkata came here — their intentions are unclear. Let them do what they want; we have no objection. The TMC’s aim is to shift attention away from the North Bengal disaster, but such tactics will not help them. In fact, it may reduce their support base. I hope they develop some common sense and engage in proper politics, focusing on law and order in West Bengal,” Dr. Saha added.
