Agartala, 2nd September 2025: A third-semester college student was found dead in a rented house in Chandipara, under Birganj police station in Amarpur sparking speculation and concern over the circumstances surrounding her death.
The deceased identified as Elizabeth Jamatia hailed from the Tethai Bari area of Ampinagar and was pursuing her studies at Adwaita Mallabarman Government College, Amarpur. According to preliminary reports, Elizabeth had been in a romantic relationship with a young man from Paharpur. A heated argument reportedly broke out between the two over a phone call, which allegedly led her to take her own life.
The incident took place at the residence of Rahul Das, where Elizabeth had been living as a tenant for the past two months. Police sources confirmed that an unnatural death case has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the suicide.
Authorities have not ruled out other possibilities, and local police are probing various angles, including emotional distress and external pressures.
