Agartala, 26th July 2024:  Various wings of the Pradesh Congress Committee held a protest today against the Union Budget 2024-25, accusing it of being designed to appease the BJP’s alliance partners. The protest, which included participants from the Youth Congress, NSUI, Mahila Congress, and others, featured a rally and the burning of the budget document in Agartala city.

Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress President Neel Kamal Saha criticized the budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while speaking to reporters. “After the BJP formed the government, they presented the 2024-25 Union Budget. This budget is against the people. It provides special allowances to Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, neglecting other states. Around Rs 26,000 crore has been allocated to Bihar and Rs 15,000 crore to Andhra Pradesh,” said Saha.

He further alleged that the primary motive behind this year’s budget is to maintain the alliance with Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) and N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party. “Without these alliances, the BJP is vulnerable, and the government could collapse at any moment. This budget is against farmers, youths, and the middle class. The BJP has imposed double taxes on many items, creating significant issues. We are protesting this year’s budget,” he added.
