Agartala, 15th December 2025:   Kailashahar witnessed yet another violent confrontation over contractor-related disputes, exposing once more the failures of local administration. The brutal attack, carried out in broad daylight near the Irani Primary Health Centre this afternoon, left one contractor seriously injured.

The victim has been identified as Mizanur Rahman Sagar, son of a senior journalist in the area. According to his statement, Sagar was at his work site adjacent to the health centre when a group of assailants, allegedly acting with prior planning, launched a sudden assault. Armed with sticks and sharp weapons, they beat him mercilessly, inflicting severe head injuries. He collapsed on the ground, bleeding profusely.

Hospital sources confirmed that Sagar required eight stitches to his head. He is currently undergoing treatment at Unakoti District Hospital, where doctors are keeping him under close observation.

The incident has raised serious concerns about law enforcement. Despite the Irani police station being only a few hundred meters away, the attack unfolded unchecked in broad daylight. Locals allege that police arrived at the scene only after considerable delay, eventually rescuing the injured contractor and taking him to hospital.

The assault has triggered widespread tension across Kailashahar, leaving residents fearful. To control the situation, authorities have deployed police and paramilitary forces in the area.

Police officials stated that an investigation has begun and efforts are on to identify those involved. They assured that strict legal action will be taken against the culprits. However, many residents remain skeptical, citing past experiences where similar assurances failed to yield results.

Civic voices argue that repeated violent incidents over contractor disputes highlight administrative laxity. “If even the son of a senior journalist is not safe on public roads, what hope is there for ordinary citizens?” questioned one concerned resident, echoing the growing unease in Kailashahar.
