Agartala, 3rd December 2025: Concerns over Kailashahar’s worsening law and order and traffic management spilled into the open today after a tragic accident left a court employee seriously injured. The incident took place around 10 am in front of the Town Hall near the court premises. The injured staff member Shusendra Das is currently undergoing treatment at Unakoti District Hospital.
Court employees alleged that despite repeated incidents of thefts, reckless driving, and road accidents across the town, Kailashahar police have remained passive observers. They blamed the absence of a permanent traffic post in the court area, one of the busiest and most sensitive zones for the frequent accidents.
The court complex is surrounded by key establishments including the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office, two government schools, a private school, the Town Hall, the Election Office and a children’s park. With heavy pedestrian and vehicular movement beginning every morning, residents say the lack of traffic control results in daily congestion and recurring accidents.
Today’s accident highlighted the issue yet again. Locals said, Das was riding his Bajaj Discover motorcycle from Shrirampur towards the court when a speeding auto-rickshaw rammed into him near the Town Hall. He was thrown onto the road and sustained severe injuries. The auto driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Court staff rushed to rescue Das and admitted him to Unakoti District Hospital, where doctors confirmed his condition to be serious. Shortly after, Kailashahar police arrived at the spot, seizing the auto-rickshaw bearing registration number TR06A2126 and the motorcycle bearing registration number TR02B-7898. Later, the auto driver surrendered himself at the police station.
Expressing anger over the incident, a court employee said: “Accidents keep happening because there is no permanent traffic point in such an important area. The police administration is merely watching as a spectator. We demand immediate improvement in traffic management.”
