Agartala, 9th December 2024: In a brazen act of vandalism, ‘Bike Bahini’ uprooted all CPIM decorations along the road from Gokulnagar to Bishalgarh Bazar just hours before Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha’s visit on Monday. The incident has sparked outrage among CPIM leaders, who have condemned the act as an attempt to intimidate the opposition.
In a press conference held on Monday afternoon, CPIM Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Secretary Partha Pratim Majumdar strongly criticized the ruling party for the incident. “The ground under the feet of the ruling party has shifted, and they have become isolated. This act of vandalism was orchestrated by drug peddlers and ‘Bike Bahini’ to inflate the Chief Minister’s ego,” Majumdar stated.
The vandalism took place on the eve of the party’s 10th subdivisional one-day conference, held at the Bishalgarh CPIM subdivisional office. The entire area had been decorated with flags and festoons in preparation for the event. The state-wide campaign for the formation of a TB-free Tripura was also inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr Saha at Bishalgarh Town Hall on the same day.
“Our conferences are ongoing from the branch level to the subdivision level, and the district and state conferences will be held soon. The ruling party has no public support and is limited to a few bike army pandas and mafia. They cannot tolerate the opposition and have resorted to such heinous acts,” Majumdar added.
He further emphasized that the CPIM will not be deterred by such actions. “The CPIM cannot be stopped in this way, and our conferences will continue. The ruling party has not learned from the last assembly elections, where 62 percent of the people voted against them. They will not be able to survive for long with the bike army, and the people will hold them accountable,” Majumdar asserted.
