Agartala, 28th May 2025: The West Tripura District Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a protest march here today condemning the escalating violence and crimes against women and children across the state. The demonstration was participated by a large number of women marched through streets in the capital city.
CPIM Central Committee member Krishna Rakshit joined the procession alongside Ratan Das, Secretary of the West Tripura District Committee, and other leaders. Addressing the gathering, Das expressed deep concern over the surge in incidents since April 4, including cases of rape, gang rape, murder, and child trafficking in both urban and rural areas.
He accused political leaders of suppressing such crimes and claimed that in several instances, law enforcement had failed to take action even when cases were registered. “In the last 40 days, 13 to 14 heinous incidents have occurred, yet many victims hesitate to approach the police due to fear and social stigma,” Das said.
The rally was organized to demand justice and accountability. Das criticized what he described as a “new fascist decree” affecting the state’s governance and urged immediate intervention from the Chief Minister and the Director General of Police. He called upon the police to fulfill their duty without bias and take stringent action to curb these crimes.
