CPIM’s students and youth wings to launch statewide protests from Tuesday to May 24

Agartala, 20th May 2024 :  The last six years under the BJP government have seen significant challenges in the state’s education system. Despite promises of improvement post-2018 and the introduction of the Vidyajyoti scheme as a model for quality education, the outcomes have been disappointing. The state Education Department has yet to provide a clarification regarding these unsatisfactory results, prompting widespread concern and unrest.

In response, the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), Tribal Students’ Union (TSU), Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), and Tripura Youth Federation (TYF) have announced a series of protests. From May 21 to 24, these organizations will hold marches, deputations, and meetings across the state, highlighting the deterioration in education, healthcare, and law and order.

SFI State Secretary Sandipan Deb detailed these plans during a press conference at Chhatra-Yuba Bhavan on Monday, emphasizing a major gathering at the same location on Tuesday at 5 PM.

Meanwhile, DYFI State Secretary Nabarun Deb highlighted the severe issues plaguing the state’s healthcare system. He reported a dire shortage of doctors and health workers, leading to inadequate patient care and a lack of essential medicines. Dialysis patients, in particular, are suffering due to insufficient water supply and services.

Adding to these concerns, Deb noted a rise in criminal activities, particularly targeting tourists, and the state’s growing problem with drug trafficking. He criticized the government for its failure to maintain law and order, describing the situation as a complete breakdown.

The employment situation also remains bleak, with no recent recruitment for critical positions such as GRS and engineers. Dev attributed these failures directly to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, accusing him of mismanaging various departments and calling for his immediate resignation. He urged citizens to actively oppose what he described as a government conspiracy against the welfare of the state.
