Deorachhara’s Colony Para still awaits basic infrastructure

Date:

By TC News Desk

Agartala, 4th May 2025:  In the heart of Deorachhara ADC Village under Gournagar RD Block, just 8 kilometers from Kailashahar city, residents of Colony Para continue to grapple with extreme isolation. Despite settling in the area in 1984, the Reang community remains deprived of essential infrastructure—no paved road, no steel bridge, not even a culvert to ease their daily struggles.

For decades, villagers have relied on makeshift bamboo bridges to cross the stream, navigating a narrow, forested, and perilous path. Their fears turned into harsh reality this February when a sudden fire engulfed three homes. While the fire brigade was immediately alerted, responders failed to reach the site due to the absence of a road.

“We do not want a road—just a steel bridge or a culvert,” pleaded a local resident. “This is our only request to the government.”

Approximately 70 individuals across 15 families continue to endure these difficulties, with little to no intervention from authorities. The lack of development raises serious concerns about governmental accountability, especially in an era where infrastructure is deemed fundamental to societal progress.

Standing in the 21st century, the condition of Colony Para paints a grim picture of neglect—an unspoken suffering where modern advancements have yet to leave their mark. Residents remain hopeful that their voices will finally be heard, and their long-awaited plea for basic infrastructure will be met.
