Double bereavement strikes Udaipur journalists’ families

Agartala, 17th November 2026:   A pall of grief descended upon the journalist community in Udaipur today as two local journalists lost close family members on the same day. One mourned the passing of his mother, while the other bid farewell to his father.

Ratan De, Secretary of the Gomati District Committee of the Tripura Journalists’ Union lost his mother late Chhaya De (87). She had been suffering from age-related ailments and breathed her last at her elder son’s rented residence in Agartala. She leaves behind two sons, four daughters, grandchildren, and a large extended family.

On the same day, fellow Udaipur journalist Deep Goswami lost his father, who succumbed to a brain stroke while undergoing treatment at GB Hospital.

The twin tragedies cast a shadow over the local press fraternity. The Tripura Journalists’ Union, Gomati District Committee, along with the Udaipur Sub-Divisional Committee, expressed deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. They prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and assured solidarity with the grieving relatives.
