Agartala, 21st July 2024: Agartala Municipal Corporation’s Mayor Dipak Majumder has emerged victorious in the Ramnagar assembly constituency by-election securing a decisive win over CPIM candidate Ratan Das by a margin of more than 18,000 votes. The newly elected MLA and Mayor of AMC Majumder has been felicitated on Sunday in a felicitation ceremony organized by the Durga Chowmuhani Market Merchants’ Association.
During his address at the event, MLA and Mayor Majumder emphasized the ongoing efforts of Agartala Municipal Corporation to modernize the markets within Agartala city. He expressed a strong commitment to enhancing market infrastructure and appealed for the cooperation of all market traders and associations.
“We are dedicated to transforming every market in Agartala into a modern, well-equipped space. This initiative requires the collective effort and support of every trader and market association,” Majumder stated.
He also addressed a critical issue concerning unlicensed vendors within the markets, urging the Durga Chowmuhani market committee to consider the situation of those operating without valid municipal papers.
“It is essential that we think about the welfare of all vendors, including those who lack the necessary documentation. A balanced approach is needed to ensure everyone can benefit from the market improvements,” he advised.
The merchant’s association expressed their enthusiasm and readiness to collaborate with the municipal efforts, marking a promising start to Majumder’s tenure as the MLA of Ramnagar.
