Agartala, 19th July 2025: Members of the Kenania unit under the Kamalasagar Local Committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a road blockade this afternoon, protesting the long-neglected condition of a key stretch in Debipur Panchayat under the Kamalasagar assembly constituency.
Braving waterlogged and mud-slicked paths, protesters marched on foot and temporarily blocked the Agartala–Kamalasagar main road near Binod Singh’s residence in Ward 3. The demonstrators served a stern warning to the ruling party: if the three-kilometer route from Debipur to Debipur Khamar via Nandakumar Para is not fully renovated within days, they will enforce an indefinite blockade at the same location.
“The road has become a nightmare for locals—not just for vehicles, but even for pedestrians,” said DYFI leaders, citing how even light rainfall turns the damaged route into an impassable quagmire. Locals allege that their repeated appeals have gone unheard by the administration, despite the deteriorating conditions and potential safety hazards.
Present at the protest were DYFI Bishalgarh Subdivision Secretary Hiranmoy Narayan Debnath, Kamalasagar Regional Secretary Rajesh Datta, and Divisional Committee Member Uttam Datta alongside other local leaders. Addressing the media, Debnath questioned the government’s development narrative, stating, “Tripura is a developing state, but why is Kamalasagar Assembly left behind? If a double engine government is at work, why has Panchayat-level infrastructure been so badly neglected?”
The DYFI has announced plans for escalated agitation if repairs are not initiated immediately.
