Agartala, 6th May 2025: Leaders of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Tribal Youth Federation (TYF) staged a protest march here today raising their voices against unemployment, addiction, and corruption. The demonstrators, affiliated with the Left Youth Organization submitted a deputation to the District Magistrate of West Tripura pressing for immediate action on these pressing issues.
Addressing the media personnel after the protest, DYFI State Secretary Nabarun Deb emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “We have decided to submit deputations to the District Magistrate in every district, demanding employment opportunities, an end to addiction, and action against corruption. The entire state is being ravaged by addiction, and there is no rule of law left.”
Deb alleged that corruption has permeated every level of governance, from the Secretariat to the Panchayat with no intervention from the authorities. “An empire of corruption is flourishing, but the government has failed to take any concrete steps against it,” he remarked.
He further criticized the Tripura Recruitment Board for Teachers (TRBT), claiming that it had mismanaged the crucial TET-2 examination. “This spineless organization has conducted the exam in a way that reeks of widespread corruption,” he said.
Expressing deep concern over rising poverty levels, Deb stated, “Mothers are being forced to sell their children due to extreme financial distress. If this is what the so-called good governance looks like, then we must ask—who is really benefiting from it?”
